Bangalore CAN Prevent
An initiative of Enfold and SAP India was launched on 1st Feb 2008 in Bangalore.
Need for this initiative:
2007 report by Govt of India, Dept of Women and Child development, UNICEF and Prayag states that:
• 53% of the over 12,000 children interviewed in 13 states reported child sexual abuse.
• 21% reported severe abuse.
Aim:
To empower children, adolescents, adults to resist, report and prevent child sexual abuse
To reach 10,000 children / adults in one year.
Method:
• Train facilitators to conduct sessions on Life skills, Sexuality and Personal Safety.
• Two facilitators trained by Enfold and funded by SAP India
• Target population: children, young adults, trainers, teachers and parents.
• Strategy: Reach out in schools, colleges, orphanages, organizations.
